Eligibility Criteria: Qualification for Success

The CTET 2026 exam is categorized into two levels. Understanding which paper fits your career goals is the first step toward a top-tier result.

  • Paper I (Classes I to V): Requires Senior Secondary (Class 12) with at least 50% marks and a passed or appearing status in the final year of a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed). Graduation with 50% marks and a B.Ed. may also be eligible per current NCTE guidelines.
  • Paper II (Classes VI to VIII): Requires Graduation with at least 50% marks and a passed or appearing status in a Bachelor in Education (B.Ed). Alternatively, candidates with a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education after graduation are eligible.

To achieve a top rank, you must master the 150-minute exam window. Both papers consist of 150 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) with no negative marking, allowing you to attempt every question confidently.

  • Child Development & Pedagogy (30 Qs): The heart of the exam; focuses on inclusive education and learning theories.
  • Language I & II (30 Qs each): Tests proficiency and communication skills in two chosen languages.
  • Mathematics/Science OR Social Studies (60 Qs): Content-specific depth for Paper II.
  • Mathematics & EVS (30 Qs each): Core foundational subjects for Paper I.
